The course covers a range of essential counselling skills, including practical techniques for supporting clients through emotional and psychological challenges. Students will learn to identify common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, and apply therapeutic approaches like cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy. Strong emphasis is placed on effective communication, active listening, and building rapport with clients. The program also includes training in crisis intervention and explores key ethical and legal considerations, such as confidentiality, duty of care, and maintaining professional boundaries.

This course includes a mix of core and elective units, designed to give you both practical counselling techniques and a strong understanding of the emotional, ethical, and professional aspects of the role. There are 17 units in total:
